Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota began operations in 1933. Today, it is the state's largest health plan, with more than two million members.
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota's individual health insurance plans include:
- a traditional blue cross blue shield insurance plan, which is designed for individuals who are self-employed or not covered by a group plan;
- a high-deductible health insurance plan, which is designed to be used with a health savings account (HSA);
- a short-term coverage health insurance plan, which is designed for individuals who are between jobs or awaiting other coverage; and
- Medicare supplement insurance, which are designed for individuals who want supplemental coverage to fill gaps in their Medicare coverage.
