Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Georgia has served the health care needs of Georgians since the 1930s, when it began as the Atlanta Blue Cross Plan. Today, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Georgia, together with its branded affiliates, provides health care services to more than two million people.

Blue Cross of Georgia's individual health insurance include:

• traditional indemnity health insurance plans, which provide coverage for a wide range of health care services;
• a number of PPOs that offer an extensive network of physicians and hospitals providing care at negotiated rates, as well as coverage for out-of-network services;
• a number of high-deductible private health insurance plans, which are designed to work with tax-advantaged health savings accounts (HSAs); and
• a short-term health insurance plan, which is designed for individuals who find themselves between jobs or waiting for permanent employer-sponsored coverage.
